General Questions
Who does ED effect?
If you have a penis, erectile dysfunction (ED) may happen at any age.
ED is generally caused by underlying problems.
Some examples are:
→ Heart problems, such as high blood pressure and atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries)
→ Diabetes – 35-50% of diabetics will experience some degree of ED.
→ Certain medications may contribute to ED including therapy for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, anxiety, and depression.
→Neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis.
→ A variety of hormonal issues.
→ Mood disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression.
→ Smoking and excess alcohol consumption.
→ Prostate and bladder disorders, including surgery for these conditions.
→ Any chronic medical conditions.
→Any combination of psycho-social issues
Impotence, better described as Erectile dysfunction (ED) is defined as the inability to develop or maintain an erection that is strong enough for satisfying sexual intercourse. Many men have erectile dysfunction at some stage in their lives. It may also vary, depending on life circumstances.
Erectile dysfunction follows the 10 rule from age 30. 30% of 30 year olds will experience a degree of ED; 40%-40 year olds & to extrapolate that to 80% of 80 year olds.
What is ED?
Testosterone protects against heart disease:
Research demonstrates it goes deeper than making men masculine.
Because of its androgenic and anabolic characteristics, supplemental testosterone can have numerous rejuvenating effects in ageing men with low blood levels of the hormone. A study by leading researcher Joyce Tenover M.D. showed that majority of men showed an increase in libido, a positive sense of aggressiveness in business dealings, and an improvement in energy level and sense of well-being.
How does ED begin?
Most often ED happens when the blood flow in the penis is limited or nerves are harmed. With stress or emotional reasons. Or as an early warning of a more serious illness, like:
→ Atherosclerosis (hardening or blocked arteries)
→ Heart disease
→ High blood pressure
→ High blood sugar from Diabetes
Getting an erection is a complex process. Your brain, nerves, muscles and blood vessels play a major role. In addition, so do your hormones and emotions.
Is ED forever?
I can get hard, but I can't ejaculate?
Can erectile dysfunction be prevented or avoided?
This depends on whether you know what it is causing your ED. There are some things you can do that may help prevent ED, including:
√ Avoid drinking too much alcohol, smoking, or abusing drugs.
√ Ask your doctor if ED is a side effect of a new or current medicine you are taking. He or she may have an alternative medicine.
√Control your blood sugar and blood pressure.
√Try to relax and avoid stress.

Myth VS Fact
Myth: ED is a normal part of growing older and men have to learn to live with it.
Fact:Although ED is more common in men over 50, men of any age may experience this condition.
Myth: Erectile dysfunction doesn’t affect younger men.
Fact: Although ED is more common in men over 50, men of any age may experience this condition.
Myth: ED may be upsetting, but there’s nothing dangerous about it.
Fact: Although ED itself isn’t dangerous, it can be an early warning sign of a serious health condition, such as diabetes or heart problems.
Myth: If you have trouble achieving an erection, it’s because you’re not attracted to your partner.
Myth: I can treat ED myself without seeing a doctor by using herbal remedies and supplements.
Fact: You run several risks when you take supplements for ED. For one thing, you may not be able to tell the exact contents of many of the supplements sold as ED treatments. It’s possible they may have ingredients that might not mix well with other medications you take.
Also, if you take supplements without consulting your doctor, it means you’re not being assessed for conditions like diabetes and heart disease that may be causing your ED.

7 Ways to Prevent ED from Hurting Your Relationship
Erectile dysfunction quick statistics
You can’t research ED statistics without reading about the Massachusetts Male Aging Study (MMAS) of 1987-1989. Including 1,290 people, MMAS was the most extensive study of ED since 1948. One measurement of ED in the study was the severity of impotence. Here are the results:
- Any degree of impotence: 52% of subjects
- Minimally impotent: 17% of subjects
- Moderately impotent: 25% of subjects
- Completely impotent: 10% of subjects
(The Journal of Urology, 1994)
Note: In a more recent study, severe ED was more common in younger men (49%) than in older men (40%). (The Journal of Sexual Medicine, 2013)

7 Ways to Prevent ED from Hurting Your Relationship
- Learn the cause
Do some research! The more you know about ED, the better you can safeguard your relationship from it. Once you have these matters sorted, managing your relationship will be a lot easier.
- Avoid anxiety
Some people relate erectile dysfunction with having an affair. However, that is not always the case. In fact, a lot of men who have ED are more anxious about letting their partner down.
- Keep the communication lines open
Do you talk to your partner about ED? You should. If not, it can place a negative effect on your relationship. ED does not hurt a relationship due to a lack of sex. Instead, it is all because of the lack of communication.
- Approach the subject carefully
Keep this in mind. ED is not anyone’s fault. Avoid putting blame or pressure on your partner as much as possible. Instead, what you could do is give them support in getting better.
- Learn the options
Orgasm and pleasure are not limited to penetrative sex. There are other ways you and your partner can enjoy intimacy. Start by maintaining your closeness with one another. Communicate openly. Relax and let things happen naturally.
- Consider the benefit of counseling
It never hurts to ask for help. You can reach out to a sex therapist that specializes in ED. Relate to them the dynamics of your relationship. Get expert advice as soon as you need it. With this guidance, you and your partner should overcome the effects of ED easily.
- Consult a doctor
